A lot has happened since the last post, including Colette's first cold and a visit from Grammy Mary! She's getting so much bigger, a whole 12 pounds and 23 inches now!
Colette got through her cold like a champ - unfortunately Mommy and Daddy are still suffering. It's the cold that won't end, and for me not being able to take any over the counter meds to ease my discomfort it really does seem like it's been forever. Nick has reached the busy season with basketball, a trip to Wrangell two weeks ago for their Homecoming (which the Viking boys took all 4 games!) a trip to Craig on Prince of Wales island last weekend, games at home this weekend and Regionals in Ketchikan just around the corner. He's trying extra dilligently to shake his sniffles and even stayed home an extra day with me. It just so happened that day was Valentines - needless to say it wasn't a very romantic day; snotty tissues, coughing and generous amounts of tea with honey, but having my love home with me still felt like a treat.
(And since I wrote this earlier in the week but didn't post it, I now have pictures to share from the basketball weekend!)
On a more exciting note, Grammy's much-too-short visit was a blast (aside from above mentioned cold, which was getting the best of her too!). We welcomed some pretty decent weather, temps around 40 and several days with some sunshine. We ate lots of soup and took a few walks. We even ventured for another trip to the pool - this time a HUGE success all around! Colette just loves the water and this time we got the stunned "I'm taking all of this in" look and big smiles and kicking legs. Can I just say, so adorable! Seeing your itty baby kick her legs in the water as a natural reaction is just so cool. We even managed to get rinsed off, dressed and back in the car without a melt down!
In other big news, naked baby tummy time has paid off! A few times we have been delighted with a full range of giggles as Colette looks up at herself in the little mirror and over the weekend we ventured down from the changing table to the floor and she rolled over all by herself! We had two successful rolls and lots of "whoa!" smiles before those big cheeks just got too heavy to hold up.
Bathtime is still a favorite activity but we had to cut back on the length of time spent in the water due to some eczema on Colette's eblows. It's so hard to end bath time especially now when she's learning how to splash and watching her feet as they kick the water - endlessly.
Colette's 4 month well-baby appointment is next week, and sadly that also means the next round of vaccines. I'm afraid this time around will be worse than the last because she's so much more aware. I just wish we could keep those sharp needles away from those chubby baby legs.
My time line is a bit messed up here, but we also recently had another visit with Niccole and Delcan.
Okay - having some technical issues with this post (read: user error) but I need to get it posted. Sorry for the wonky formatting and the lack of captions or detail, maybe I'll be able to come back and edit this. ;)
