Do you think our baby will have big cheeks?

Hi friends and family! I've decided to try out the blog scene to keep you up to date on the happenings with our little bun in the oven. Although you may occasionally see an update or picture on facebook, sharing every detail of my life with my elementary school peers and complete strangers isn't totally my thing. I make no promises as to how often I'll post a blog update, but I'll do my best and I hope you'll enjoy.

I am now certifiably pregnant. Okay, so really I have been for several months but I'm now 21 weeks (just over 5 months) and we had the customary 20 week ultrasound last week. Seeing my baby was so far the most amazing experience of my life. We could see movements, feet, bones, hands, the spine and with (somewhat creepy) 3D imaging, even a glimpse at facial features. And of course . . . we could see the private parts region. Nick has been eager to find out the sex of the baby pretty much from the first day we found out, so by 20 weeks the eagerness had spread to full on giddyness. So without further ado . . . the first grandbaby for both sides of our immadiate family is going to be  . . . a Girl!! We were "blessed" with a very clear shot and later this week when we had the chance to compare pictures with a close friend (who is just two weeks behind!) there was no denying "what's different between these two pictures?"  :))

The name game has begun although I'm fairly certain that we won't be deciding on anything until our little girl arrives. The simply joy of using gender-specific pronouns to refer to the baby has started to create a real person entering our lives in the very near future. So from our prediction, we will be the proud parents of a beautiful, hunting, fishing, tutu-wearing little girl. (In fact some of you may have seen pictures from my bachelorette party where my wonderful friends created a camo-colored tutu which of course I still have and I imagine will be quite popular in the upcoming years. Who says camo is only meant to blend in??)

Overall my pregnancy has been good so far. I managed to escape most of the dreaded morning sickness period with just a few weeks of the occasional neasuea and quite a bit of extra sleep. Orange juice is by far my favorite thing in the world, and Nick would be in serious trouble if I woke up and found an empty orange juice bottle in the fridge. The world of maternity clothing has me utterly perplexed. Three different sizes of maternity pants and none of them fit so skirts, dresses and leggings have become my daily uniform. I'm just starting to find that my jackets are pulling tight across the middle when zippered so I may be switching to Nick's rain gear in the coming months.

And to answer the title question . . . Yes, I do think that my (adorably) large cheeks will be a trait shared with our little one.
