Garden Gossip

After a long day of work I have thoroughly enjoyed a quiet evening at home alone; a walk around the yard with the dogs, a yoga/stretching/pilates session and a dinner of cheese and fruit. The boy is out fishing with a friend and although it's 8:15, the sun is still up (behind the solid cloud cover) and they have another 2 hours or so before I'll start texting to find out where he is.

So, I thought I'd share with you some of the things happening at our house this spring.

Potatoes! They seem to be doing well and Nick has been ever attentive to re-mounding them. I think we'll be doing a lot of things with potatoes this fall. Aside from a few potted flowers and indoor plants, gardening is a new experience for both of us. Luckily Nick's dad has plenty of "good shit" to supply us with - yes literally shit from his horse and goats.
Inside we're also growing basil, cilantro and tomatoes so I'm really hoping someone in this house has a green thumb! (and maybe it's the baby . . . )

Radishes! Some of these guys were started inside so we're hoping to start enjoying them soon. Don't believe I've ever had homegrown radishes and I'm looking forward to it! There's also peas and broccoli but those are just little sprouts right now, although Nick also checks the peas daily just in case one might be ready.

That's all for the edibles and I can't take credit for these gorgeous wild iris but they sure make me happy. They're purple although they look completely blue in this picture. There's two small clumps of them right outside one of the living room windows.

These awesome pink flowers are on a plant called a Bleeding Heart. I can thank the previous owners of this house for planting four of them in various spots around the yard - and my little Boomer for being in my pictures. He doesn't care what we do outside as long as he's not outside by himself.

Last night I felt this little baby move and groove for a good 5-10 minutes, continuous movement. I'm projecting what she was doing in there, "that was a kick, that was punch, oh that was definitely her rolling over" . . . but of course we have no idea. All I know is that it was a crazy sensation and whatever she was doing, she was determined. I certainly feel like we've grown quite a bit from last week so I leave you with a belly shot, goodnight!
