3 Months Already?!?

Our little baby is 3 months old!

That means that I have to finally accept she isn't a newborn anymore (although she does still wear some newborn clothes) and that I'm out of excuses for returning to work. I am lucky enough that I'm only returning part time, 3 days a week, and that my friend Kaili is going to take Colette two of those days. My lucky little girl will spend two days with Kaili and her adorable 1-year-old, Parker and then a whole day of daddy one-on-one time! (A side note, I'd like to point out that Colette and Parker are almost exactly 9 months apart, te-he. I held that cute little munchkin and my body decided it wanted one of it's own.) So, as much as I just want to stay with her all day, every day, I know this will be good for both of us and it should be a smoother transition than having to jump right into full time daycare.

Colette has gotten so strong now. She can hold her head up for a little while and likes to sit up (with support) and take a good look at the world. Her hands are always busy, clasped together in the middle, shaking her rattle-ball or holding your finger. Yesterday we were at the grocery store and she was happily wide awake. About halfway through she started to squawk a little, I reached into her seat, she grabbed my little finger and then was content to finish our shopping. I still like to hold my mom's hand (even specifically remember doing it when I was 17 on a class trip to New York) and I hope she'll continue to like to hold mine too.

Chatterbox. Yep, this little girl loves to chit-chat. It's like she just figured out she can make this new sound and she will just go and go and go. I asked her if she was saying "I love you Mommy" and in response I got a big toothless grin, so I'm goin' with it! Of course it isn't just me she talks to, she also tells her Daddy how much she loves him and enjoys those special days (like today) where we all get to be home together.

Nick spent a weekend in Anchorage for National Guard. He was only gone three nights but Colette and I missed him like crazy. His weekend was full of paperwork and a physical so not exactly a wildly fun weekend for him. Here's some pictures of his awesome accommodations in the barracks on post.

Cozy isn't it? And how nice to sleep in a room full of snoring men!

It is the military though so they did get to look at some toys. I'm told this is a .50 Caliber and it's the most accurate gun our military has.

It's decided to snow today and although it means more work for us, it is beautiful. This next week it's supposed to be clear and cold, the forecast is calling for single digits! It's been a very mild winter thus far but also very wet and rainy so I certainly wouldn't mind a few days of sunshine.

We got out for a little much-needed fresh, crisp air and a walk in the woods.

Boomer especially loved our outing in the snow!

Little one ready for a winter day in Alaska! This adorable coat is still much too big on her so I think we'll wait a bit until it's next appearance.

We don't get a whole lot of sleepy cuddle time anymore because we practice falling asleep on her on in the crib but sometimes a good snuggle is just right.
