Happy April Fools!
The following photos however are from a mini-photo shoot here at home on St Patty's day. Got my girl in her birthday suite + a green cloth diaper, some natural sunlight and we were ready to rock! Unfortunately those adorable headband bows and flowers came as an afterthought so there's only a few of those.
"Hey Mom, Are you watching?"
"Here I go!"
"Oh Yeah. Did you see what I did there?"
Colette has found her toes. And they are her BFFs. She loves them with socks on, she loves them barefoot. She loves them with kisses from Mom and Dad and she loves to munch on them herself.
In other big news, Colette is sitting up! She still very wobbly and tends to pitch forward but last weekend was the first notable "she's sitting up" and already this weekend she's made quick progress. She really likes being able to see what's going on around her.
We also have a Johnny Jump Up and she'll spend a few minutes there at a time. She's still a bit too small for it even though she's ready to be there. Similarly, there's a jumperoo style at the day care (seen below) and a whole "entertainment command center" at Kaili's, both of which she enjoys. The little guy here is Lito, the day care provider's youngest son. He LOVES Colette, or as he says "Cool-hat" and I hear that he's pretty sad on days that she doesn't come over.
And more big news, we're introducing food! Colette has had avocado and bananas and tomorrow we're going to try sweet potatoes! She has such an interest in food that it's a lot of fun to be at this point. She will grab small bits of food and put it in her mouth and some of it actually gets eaten! She will also grab the spoon and (with assistance) put it in her mouth and scoop off the food. No teeth yet, at least none have made their big debut but we're pretty sure there's something going on in there.
Last Monday was a holiday in Alaska, Seward's Day! (It's the day commemorating Alaska being purchased from Russia) The perk is that it's a day off and once again we were lucky that it was sunny! Colette had the household up early that morning so after her first meal and some coffee for us, we headed out the road to our favorite spot where we made breakfast!
Nick, in his element, had the fire going by 8:30 while Colette had settled herself in for a cozy little nap. Nick got some good coals ready for cooking and we dined on scrambled eggs complete with veggies, cheese and sausage while enjoying the sunshine and the temperature beginning to climb.
You can see that everyone had a pretty good time.
Today Nick left for Anchorage and a 2-week + National Guard class. This is the first of two Leadership courses, the second is right around the corner in May. The final outcome of these classes should be very positive both for Nick within the Guard and for us as a family, but for tonight, we all just miss being together.
